If your pastor or priest were running a drug/numbers operation would you notify the elders or law enforcement?

For e.g. if we suspicion your priest or preaching was concerned with a drug or numbers pole would or should a single initial go to a church elders or to a correct authorities in law enforcement? Or would we only leave good sufficient alone as well as contend nothing?

  1. Jason M Says:

If I only thought he was, I would notify the elders. If I knew he was, I would notify both the elders and the police.

  2. Old Man from Scene 24 Says:

I’d just tell the competing organized crime ring that "owns" that territory.

  3. Trish JPA and Jewish Pastafarian Says:

    Why not notify both?

  4. Allan Says:

I’m pretty sure the teachings say to "respect the laws of man"

  5. kevin Says:

Yes. I’d inform the police. Probably after I’d told him to mend his ways first, though.

  6. anastasia Says:

That happened in our town and I don’t know how the preacher got caught but the district attorney prosecuted him. I don’t want to be accessory after the fact for anyone outside of my family and I wouldn’t do it for most of them either.

  7. IronMan of Rome Says:

I grew up around a church that did a lot more then that. *shrugs*
Unfortunately for my age, nobody would take me seriously.

  8. justice Says:

First, I’d go to the police, then to the elders.

  9. fokker - it's an airplane! Says:

I would probably be involved as well…and would therefor not rat them out.

I would report them to law enforcement.

  11. rev.docholiday Says:

    1. first the elders should be notified – you are basing your accusation on suspicion and not fact
    2. yes notify law enforcement and let them do their investigation
And if the concerns are real hopefully the elders can persuede the pastor to stop and change his ways.

  12. Justin Says:

I’d go straight to law enforcement.

  13. What? Me Worry? Says:

    I would blackmail him.

  14. schism Says:

If your evidence is convincing I would feel it my duty to call church elders.

  15. dtpsprt Says:

    The police, of course.
When the police would have found out and the whole issue resolved in the courts of law, then the elders could make their decision upon the person.

  16. Kyle Says:

jump him. take the drugs for yourself, and sell them on the black market. with the money you make from this, you can donate to the church.

Fokker: Smartest answer in the bunch! I’ll give you a star even if this asker won’t. Nice to see you again.

  18. Juice002 Says:

Elders first………. I think he would be to big for me to go to between him and I as the Messiah said do first.

After that, I wouldn’t be going there any more, and I wouldn’t call authorities either, God will bring to the light what is in the dark, he don’t need any help.

If I was being Direct or indirectly effective by it, my next move would be Authorities…

My take, don’t hold me to anything……….. some times you just don’t know what you will do until it happens, then you find it’s nothing like what you said………….Huh!
