For just performing the service itself, we paid $300, but if he is coming from far away, and counseling etc,, maybe some gift can be added? But you are taking him for dinner,, so the dinner could be the gift.. My mother in law said that the average is $300 or so.

We considered it as a donation to his church.. but any amount you can afford would be fine when you give with your heart,, it is a happy ceremony!

I wish you & your fiance all the HAPPINESS!!!
    Congratulations! and God Bless!!:)

I would definitely offer to pay for his transportation or gas. Since you are taking him to dinner I would maybe offer a hundred bucks or so..

It is generally customary to give the minister $50 to $100 dollars. If he or she has additional expenses, these should also be paid for. It would be nice to give
a token gift to the piano player and soloist if they are performing for you at the wedding. Don’t forget the other attendants.

It is customary to pay $150- $300. This also depends on whether you are choosing to use his venue or not. Many pastors will give a partial of the money back if the facility is in the same condititon as it was before you got married.
