That’s pretty funny. Two words “With Sympathy.” No one can accuse Ministry of selling out, because after the initial Wax Trax! singles they spent some time as a Soft Cell tribute band for Arista. I have a soft spot for those early Wax Trax! releases, as well as ‘Twitch,’ ‘The Land of Rape and Honey,’ and ‘The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste,’ but Ministry is not built on a foundation of early years credibility.
They’ve been around at least 20 years now. I Picked up their “A Mind Is a Terrible Thing To Taste” back in high school in ’89. In the early ’90′s they had a small hit with “Jesus Built my Hotrod”. I don’t think it’s so much they’ve gone unnoticed as much as it’s just not their thing.. I would never want to see them go commercial.. it would ruin them.
Did you get the association of “Black Betty” as a black sports car from the Spiderbait video? B/c that’s the only place I’ve ever seen Betty interpreted as a car. Turns out Black Betty was probably a type of musket which was later replaced by a Brown Bess. Wiki ftw.
